We offer environmentally friendly services.
Mount Sopris Lawn Care offers a range of treatments from weed control to fertilization. For the best results, check out our full programs here.
Fertilizer
Does your lawn lack color and grass density? If so, your lawn needs to be fed the proper nutrients to help bring out its full potential.
We offer a slow release organic based fertilizer to help provide nutrients to your lawn throughout the season. Organic base nutrients such as; Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus, Iron, and micronutrients will all help to give you a thick healthy lawn.
We also offer a pre-emergent fertilizer in the spring to help prevent and reduce weed/crabgrass seeds from germinating. In some extreme cases where crabgrass and weeds make up 60% or more of the lawn, a pre-emergent can also be used in the fall to help reduce weed population.
Having a proper fertilizing program is very beneficial to your lawn and can help increase property value when selling your home!
Weed Control
Do you have obnoxious and annoying weeds growing in your lawn? Do you want less weeds and more of a lush lawn to comfortably walk through? If so, you will need weed control to reduce the weed population to an aesthetically pleasing level.
We use a selective herbicide that will only kill the target weed and will not harm the grass blades. This is ideal for broadcast or blanket treatments, meaning the entire area of the lawn sprayed for weeds.
Also works great for spot treatments, meaning only spot spray the weeds in the lawn. Spot treatments are recommended to reduce the pesticide used on your lawn. Our weed control has no harsh chemicals in it such as, glyphosate, or 2 4 D.
This service works great for reducing weed population and increasing the aesthetic threshold of your lawn. Also increases property value when trying to sell!
Lawn Disease
Does your lawn have browning spots that don't seem to go away no matter how much you water? This could be a result of lawn disease.
Lawn disease is caused by many different factors such as dull mower blades, lack of water, bad sprinkler coverage, and improper cultural practices. A mixture of these problems cause lesions to occur in the grass blade allowing pathogens to cause disease.
The most common lawn disease in Colorado grasses is ascochyta leaf blight. To help counteract these problems we use a fungicide/ insecticide soap that helps the lesions in the grass blade to heal, as well as taking care of any above ground insects that may be causing problems such as mites, and cinch bugs. This should be used as a last resort, but can be very beneficial in protecting your lawn from disease.
Aeration
Aeration is very beneficial for lawns here in Colorado as we have sandy/clay soil. The clay can get so compacted that it does not allow water to absorb properly. Aeration helps break up compacted soil allowing better water deprivation and intake.
Not only does Aeration help with water deprivation and intake, it also helps bring the good organics from below ground to the surface. This is a ideal time to over seed your lawn. Aeration with overseeding is the best way to thicken your lawn. Aeration or Aeration and overseeding are best performed in the Spring and Fall time frames.
Below Ground Insecticide
The most common below-ground insect damage comes from grubs. Damage is mainly present during late spring and summer months. If you have brown spots in your lawn that roll up like carpet when pulling the grass, it is most likely damage from grubs eating the roots.
In this case we will have to do a granular insecticide treatment that controls grubs up to 3 feet below the surface. If grubs are not taken care of, damage can spread throughout the lawn.
The presence of grubs can also attract other predatorial pest that can cause further damage to your lawn. It is important to act quickly and take care of the grub problem before it gets worst.

Overseeding
If you have bare spots in your lawn where grass is not present, it would be smart to overseed those areas to help fill it in. On bare spot areas we would either hand aerate or use a hoe to scratch up the surface to allow the good Organics/Dirt to reach the surface.
Once that is done we spread a layer of seed over the Bare area to help fill it in. We can overseed just your bare spots or the entire lawn if you would like. It is important to know that once overseeding is completed you can not mow your lawn for 2 weeks. This allows the seed to germinate undisturbed.
You must also water your lawn twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening during the cooler hours for 14 to 21 days. 10 to 15 minutes each time. This will give you the best chance for your grass to grow.
Overseeding is very beneficial because it will give you a thick Lush Lawn that will naturally choke out pest / weeds without having to use pesticides. Also increases property value.
